Part One: Brain Boosting Sleep

Hey, out there… Is anyone else struggling with sleep during this COVID-19 season? Too little, too much, mixing days and nights?

Our brains play a big role, and there are things that we can do to help. The Brain’s main assignment is to scope out problems and then solve them. During the day it’s constantly taking in more information than we can possibly save, so while we’re sleeping the “Night Crew” takes over to sort through all that sensory material and decide what to keep and what to get rid of. Anything that relates to long term memory we’ve already stores gets filed there. All the unrelated information gets tossed, and the Glial Cells clear the connections to make room for the next day’s collection. No rest, it’s on duty 24/7, 365.

So what can we do to support sleep so the brain can l help us feel refreshed in the morning?

Come to Ellsworth Library www.ellsworthlibrary.org at 10:30 for a live virtual and interactive presentation during which we’ll discuss external and internal factors that support or block healthy, restorative sleep.

On Wednesday, Sept 10 Connections of the Heart LLC will post Part II Brain Boosting Sleep, fleshing out the following topics after our discussion

External impacts:

  • Reserve the bedroom for sleep and sex
  • Bedding for Body Comfort
  • Room Temperature
  • Breath Support
  • Light/Darkness
  • Electronic Sleep Sabotage
  • Sound Support
  • Sleep Partner Impacts

Internal Impacts:

  • Circadian Rhythms

Please bring your questions, stories and comments to share to truly make this an interactive presentation. I’d like to prioritize the topics that are of most interest to you, the participants.

Looking forward to my first virtual presentation, thanks to Tiffany at Ellsworth Library for asking me to share this with you. Now to figure out how to sleep before we begin. See you there!
